Khurja pottery comes from a place of the same name Khurja, a small town in Bulandshahar of Uttar Pradesh in North India. Khurja pottery has been around for more than 500 years from the time of the Mughals.
This kind of pottery is famous for its colourful hand painted designs and glazing. Every piece is moulded by hand into different shapes and sizes and then meticulously hand painted and glazed.
The potters often call themselves Multani Kumhars, because of the belief that the knowledge of making this kind of pottery came from Multan with the Mughal kings.
