This Owl figure is an exquisite example of Dokra craftmanship for which the artisan was awarded at the Poush Mela (2022) in Shantiniketan. Dokra or Dhokra artisans practice an ancient craft that uses scrap brass, nickel and zinc to produce unique objects that holds an appeal of primitive simplicity. Primitive it is – the entirely handcrafted technique goes back more than 4,000 years. To own a Dokra figurine is to hold ancient knowledge and wisdom in your hands.
Care Instructions: Use a soft and dry cloth to wipe away any dust. DO NOT use water or wet cloth. Sometimes, polishing with a Brass polish might also help to preserve shine.
